The R+ was designed to be a long distance gravel machine. Designed and optimized around 700x40c tires, but can take up to 700x46. Or 27.5x2.1 if your feeling spry! Whether its buff singletrack, long paved roads, or backcountry gravel, the R+ is designed to handle it all. The R+ can go from being stiff and compliant on the road while somehow turning supple and damp on high speed washboard. The R+ comes setup for an optional internally routed 31.6 dropper post, to turn this beast into an unstoppable descending machine.

Shimano designed this group set to be 100% gravel with specific ergonomics, incredible gear range, durable, yet also sleek, quiet and stable. The Shimano GRX group set will add a certain crossover road bike feel bridging into the mountain bike realm of capability.
